Hi, I'm Usimele, the founder of Basimele Handylady. My journey began in 2010 as a personal DIY hobby, where a passion for transforming spaces through furniture restoration, wall painting, and home organization was discovered. What started as a creative outlet quickly evolved into a refined skill set, driven by a deep appreciation for design and hands-on craftsmanship.
Expertise expanded further through experience as a visual merchandiser for a leading fashion retail chain. This role strengthened skills in layout design, use of power tools, advanced painting techniques, and precision work. It also deepened an understanding of spatial aesthetics and functionality—laying the foundation for Basimele Handylady.
A decade later, that passion grew into a professional business focused on enhancing residential and commercial spaces across Johannesburg. Guided by the philosophy “A brighter space equals a brighter mood,” every project is approached with creativity, excellence, and attention to detail.
The name Basimele reflects a strong belief that women can thrive in traditionally male-dominated industries. The vision extends beyond one individual—aiming to inspire, empower, and build a future where skilled women and men collaborate to deliver exceptional service and redefine industry standards.
